Game Project: RWBY VR

“One of the best ways to learn programming and design is through making games.” A professor of mine said this to our class and it’s some of the best advice I’ve ever heard. When you create a game from scratch, you now have concrete reasons to learn new concepts. And once the game is built, you have examples to draw from when using the same code or concept in the future. RWBY (pronounced “Ruby”) is an animated show from Rooster Teeth productions. I decided on this particular IP due to its unique cast, dynamic action choreography, and the freedom of movement displayed by its characters. While building it, I found small gaps in my programming knowledge that I would then fill in order to complete a function or design an interaction. I also had to work on areas that are not generally my forte, such as lighting and environmental design. Both creation and play of this project have been highly rewarding.
